About The Medical Marketers

A marketing agency that specialises in healthcare

The Medical Marketers exists because medical practices deserve better than generic marketing. Too many clinics end up with an agency that treats them like any other small business, then wonders why the ads keep getting rejected and the website copy is drifting into territory that could put a practitioner in front of AHPRA.

We specialise in helping Australian healthcare practices grow. That focus means we understand how patients choose a provider, how referral pathways work and exactly where the advertising rules sit. It also means we can be straight with you about what will and won’t work for your practice.

Why The Medical Marketers

Why practices choose us

Specialists, not generalists

Healthcare is what we do, so you never pay for an agency to learn your industry on your budget.

Compliance built in

Every page, post and ad is checked against the AHPRA and TGA rules before it goes anywhere near the public.

One accountable team

Strategy, websites, ads and content under one roof, with one point of contact who knows your practice.

Our founder

Why The Medical Marketers exists

The Medical Marketers was founded in Adelaide by Denholm Hale, who has worked as a marketer since 2017, building websites and growing Adelaide small businesses, and has worked with medical practices since 2021. Working with plastic surgeons through the 2023 changes to AHPRA’s cosmetic surgery advertising guidelines made one thing clear: most practice marketing is built first and checked for compliance later, if at all. The Medical Marketers does it the other way around, and starts by getting to know the practice and the people behind it.

Many of the practices we work with came to us from agencies that said they understood AHPRA and TGA compliance. Then we looked at what had actually been published. It happens most in aesthetics, where the cosmetic surgery and higher-risk cosmetic procedure guidelines are much stricter than the general rules, and where a single post can name a prescription medicine or show an unrealistic result. Saying you understand compliance is easy. Checking every page, ad and post against the rules before it goes live is the work.

Compliance reviews are overseen with help from Shana Hale, our Clinical Compliance Advisor. Shana is a registered nurse who has worked in Australia’s public hospital system since 2021, and brings a practitioner’s view of how patients read health information.

Our compliance process

How we check every page

Compliance isn’t a box we tick at the end. We built our own audit tool to make checking thorough and easy to follow, and every client’s marketing goes through the same four steps.

  1. 01Review

We go through your website, ads and social posts against AHPRA’s advertising guidelines and, where medicines or devices are involved, the TGA Advertising Code.

  2. 02Highlight

Each potential issue is marked where it appears, on a private copy of your website or on printouts, so you see exactly what we saw.

  3. 03List

A page-by-page spreadsheet sets out every potential breach, the rule it relates to and what to change, in order of priority.

  4. 04Check before it goes live

New pages, ads and posts go through the same check before they’re published, with clinical wording reviewed by a registered nurse.

Our reviews are based on the published guidelines and aren’t legal advice. For complex questions we suggest involving your indemnity insurer or a health lawyer. About our compliance audits

How we work

How we run an engagement

Every engagement starts with an audit. We look at your website, search visibility, advertising and competitors, then put our findings in writing so you can see exactly where the opportunities are.

From there we build a plan around your goals and your capacity, because there’s no point filling the books for a service you can’t staff. We set up tracking before anything launches, report on enquiries and bookings every month and keep refining what’s working. No jargon, no vanity metrics, just a clear line between the work we do and the results it brings.

Working with us

Steady, clear and in it for the long term

Clients tend to describe working with us the same way: calm and consistent. Most of our founder’s clients have been with him for five years or more. That doesn’t come from big promises. It comes from doing the work steadily, answering questions clearly and telling you early when a rule changes or a campaign needs a rethink.

You deal directly with the person doing the work, not an account manager passing messages along. We reply within 24 hours, report every month in plain English and work month-to-month, so we keep earning the work.

We’ll also be honest about fit. If something your practice needs is better handled by someone else, we’ll say so. And if a tactic would put your registration at risk, we won’t use it, however well it might perform.
